Sering kali proses coaching oleh manager kepada anggota timnya kurang memberikan dampak perbaikan kinerja yang signifikan. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah manager kurang memiliki kemampuan berkomunikasi yang baik serta tidak menguasai tehnik coaching yang benar.
Kegagalan proses coaching juga disebabkan kurangnya kesadaran manager akan ragam tipe kepribadian setiap anggota timnya. Perbedaan tipe kepribadian individu akan menimbulkan perbedaan perilaku dan gaya berkomunikasi
