Joko Wiyono is Managing Director of Qasa Strategic Consulting, a consulting company providing market assessment, competitive intelligence, and retail services to local as well as multinational corporations operating in Indonesia as well as in the regions. With more than 15 years experience, Joko has done numerous works in competitor analysis and intelligence.

After graduating from Florida State University in 1992, Joko spent most of his career in consulting industry mainly with Austrade, Coopers and Lybrand Management Consultants Indonesia, and Deka Marketing Research before establishing his consulting services.

Joko also worked for Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia for nearly 6 years where he, on day to day basis, watched and monitored actual competition in action in marketplace. Being a practitioner in service leadership, Wardhani Soedjono possesses an in-depth experience for 30 years in various multinational companies.

During her time in IBM, Wardhani developed her individual leadership competency in various functions such as procurement, market-driven quality, contract management and lastly direct marketing. The experience has obviously reflected significance in relationship and collaboration with people within and outside the organization, such as the staff, peers, suppliers and customers.

In XL, Wardhani had the opportunity to lead different functions and managed carrying different missions such as human capital, corporate sales, channels and distribution and customer service. Successfully she had brought XL front-liners from a non-standardized into a well standardized contact centers using the worldly known COPC standards. Her last position in XL was Vice President, Service Delivery and Contact Management.

To lead effectively Wardhani equipped herself with various certification and endorsement, such as IBM's Malcolm Baldrige Assessor, IBM Benchmarking Coordinator and lastly Registered Coordinator of COPC.

Selama proses fermentasi dan oksidasi berlangsung, terjadi bermacam-macam reaksi pada larutan teh-manis secara asimilatif dan disimilatif. Jamur teh memakan gula, dan sebagai gantinya memproduksi zat-zat bermanfaat yang dalam minuman tersebut, seperti asam glukuronat, asam laktat, vitamin, asam amino, antibiotik, serta zat-zat lain. Maka dari itu, jamur kombucha ini bagaikan sebuah pabrik biokimia mini.

Several civilians stood at a bus stop in the quiet center of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, which suddenly found itself at war with Russia. At the sight of a plane that appeared high up in the sky, people panicked and ran to seek shelter in

"Women and children were hiding in basements for a few days,It was enough just to hear this howl of shell rushing along. You feel like nothing in the world is more important than this sound," said Djemal, a vacationer in Tskhinvali. He has forbidden his 8-year-old daughter to approach the sea. "I will cover her with my body during bombing if she stays close to me. I won't be able
to save her when she is swimming...""

Mengamati Oscar Pistorius, si 'Blade Runner', juara paraolimpik atau olimpiade untuk penyandang cacad dalam nomor lari 100m, 200m dan 400 m, yang berjuang untuk dapat melawan atlit berkaki normal di Olimpiade Beijing, tentunya kita akan berkata, “Kok bisa, ya?” Ia yang kakinya sudah diamputasi sejak usia 1 tahun, tidak berhenti untuk melakukan hal-hal hebat yang mengundang kekaguman. Banyak hal-hal hebat lain yang terjadi di sekitar kita, yang kita ketahui dari bacaan, tontotan di media massa ataupun kita alami sendiri. Tanpa disadari, melihat hal-hal yang menakjubkan, kita sering ditempatkan pada posisi penonton. Bengong.

Kehebatan yang kita amati tersebut bisa berdampak dalam berbagai tingkatan dalam kehidupan kita. Bisa saja secara rasional, kita membahasnya, bahkan sampai detil, mengenai apa dan mengapa individu ’hebat’ bisa melakukan hal-hal itu. Kita juga bisa secara lebih dalam, merefleksikan ke dalam diri kita dan menjawab pertanyaan “so what”, bagaimana dengan diri kita? Tentunya yang terbaik adalah bila kita langsung membuat action plan kecil, lalu ‘meniru’ sikap, cara atau kebiasaannya, sehingga kita mendapatkan manfaat dari hasil pengamatan tersebut alias berubah.

Mudah dikatakan memang, namun tak semudah itu dilaksanakan! Mengapa? Pertama-tama, kita sering melihat bahwa kita tidak punya potensi se-’besar’ orang lain. Kita sering merasa bahwa orang-orang hebat mempunyai ’Star Qualities’ yang dibawa sejak lahir. Kita pikir, ‘titik start’ orang-orang hebat itu berbeda. Padahal, Oscar Pistorius saja mengatakan: “Saya tidak melihat diri saya sebagai penyandang cacat”. Ini artinya dia yang kita amati punya titik start minus, malahan mengambil titik start normal. Hal lain yang juga sering menyebabkan kita setidaknya sering menunda upaya keras adalah ketakutan akan perubahan. Oscar meyakini bahwa kemenangannya bukan dikarenakan kaki penggantinya yang berbahan “carbon-fiber” canggih, yang disebut dengan julukan “the cheetah”. Oscar menyatakan bahwa kunci kemenangannya adalah sekedar keinginan untuk senantiasa berubah. Kedua unsur mentalitas ini memang sangat penting untuk dijadikan dasar keyakinan “Can Do” seseorang.

Optimiskah kita?

Dalam suatu pertemuan, seorang peserta bertanya pada saya: ”Apakah anda percaya bahwa hidup ini tidak ’fair’?”. Saya jawab dengan tegas: “Ya, iyalah”. Saya lalu menceritakan padanya betapa saya yang berusia 58 tahun, pernah berada dalam antrian toilet, di belakang 15 gadis belia, tetapi tidak mendapatkan kemudahan. Namun, bila saya memaksa menerobos, bayangkan apa yang akan dikatakan dan dipikirkan ke-15 gadis belia itu. Sama-sama tidak fair, bukan?.

Bukankah semuanya tergantung pada bagaimana kita meyakinkan diri tentang situasi yang kita hadapi? Kita bisa belajar mengatakan pada diri sendiri dengan menyebutkan hal-hal yang bisa kita garap dalam menghadapi situasi sulit. Daripada mengatakan “alangkah tidak beruntungnya saya”, kita bisa lebih berbuat baik pada diri kita sendiri dengan mengatakan “hari ini hasil saya segini”. Tanpa disadari otak kita bisa kita penuhi dengan “Self-Limiting Statements” yang membatasi diri kita sendiri dalam lingkaran ketidakmampuan dan keterhambatan potensi. “Tidak mungkin”, “Mana mungkin”, dan “Tidak bisa” kerap mewarnai rapat-rapat kontra produktif, sehingga tanpa kita sadari kekuatan kita pun semakin berkurang.

“Can-do attitude”: Memberi “Impact”

Teman saya, hampir selalu meng-iya-kan permintaan pelanggan sehingga beberapa rekannya kadang berolok-olok agar ia tidak usah menemui pelanggan saja. “Mengimplementasikan apa yang sudah dia komitkan ke pelanggan, itu yang susah”, demikian komentar teman-temannya. Padahal, tidak bisa dipungkiri bahwa perusahaan menikmati sukses karena komitmen-komitmen yang kompetitif seperti itu. “Bagaimana mau menyaingi perusahaan kelas dunia, kalau ’ini ngga bisa, itu ngga bisa’?”, demikian komentarnya. Astra, ditantang oleh Toyota memproduksi Avanza dalam 2 bulan. Mau tidak mau, mereka meng-iya-kan kesanggupannya, dan ternyata, tantangan itu betul-betul bisa diwujudkan.

Belajar dari bisnis Walt Disney yang tidak ada habisnya, kita juga bisa mengadaptasi keyakinan mereka: ”If you dream it, you can do it. If you believe you can, you probably can. If you believe you won't, you most assuredly won't.”. Hanya dengan “walk the extra mile” saja, kita bisa tampil sebagai perusahaan atau individu yang menonjol. Kita pasti bisa bersikap lebih responsif, lebih cepat, senantiasa bisa diakses, bisa menerangkan proses kerja dengan gamblang, tidak menunda follow up, menyelesaikan sebelum diminta, dan yang paling penting, para “stakeholder” meyakini bahwa kita selalu melakukan perbaikan dan bisa mengalahkan pesaing. “Kalau orang lain bisa, kenapa kita tidak bisa?”


Belajar “Can Do”

Mungkin pada saat bayi belajar berjalan, ia mulai mempelajari sikap ragu dan kata “tidak bisa”. Pernyataan ini bisa kita pelihara terus sampai mati, bisa juga kita hentikan. Kita bisa meyakinkan diri, bahwa mengungkapan pernyataan “tidak bisa” adalah sebuah “kebiasaan”. Saya sendiri kadang merasa malu bila dalam suatu rapat, saya melontarkan kata ”tidak bisa”, kemudian ada orang lain yang berkomentar:”Kenapa tidak?”. Karenanya, kita sebaiknya menyetop kebiasaan mengatakan ”tidak bisa”, ”tidak mampu”, atau ”tidak mungkin”, sebelum merusak mental kita lebih jauh. Kita bisa gantikan ’ketidakbisaan’ dengan selalu memikirkan jalan keluar yang ’bisa’ kita kontrol dan lakukan. Dengan sedikit tambahan kreativitas, kita akan bisa mencari celah atau jalan lain, bila ternyata apa yang kita upayakan mentok.

Satu hal yang saya pelajari juga dalam bekerja adalah melakukan hal-hal yang “saya banget” alias “do it my way”. Pengalaman saya adalah dengan melaksanakan suatu tindakan dengan cara, gaya dan ketrampilan diri sendiri, berdasarkan keyakinan diri dan profesi sendiri, atau sesuai dengan sistem prosedur perusahaan yang kita hafal dan kuasai betul, biasanya kita merasa lebih mantap melakukannya.

Informasi biaya yang ada masih bersifat global dan sekedar memenuhi kebutuhan pelaporan keuangan (akuntansi keuangan). Yaitu menjadi pengurang terhadap sales untuk mendapatkan nilai gross profit. Akibatnya, manajemen tidak mempunyai panduan yang cukup untuk melakukan perubahan dan mengambil keputusan.
